The Summer Intensive program has been an annual tradition at the Academy of Ballet Arts since 1970. It was established to provide training for intermediate and advanced dancers from the age of 11. The full program consists of five classes a day for six weeks in Classical Ballet, Pointe, Men's Class, Variations, Pas de Deux, Character, Modern, Jazz, Acting, Creative Journaling and Conditioning.
All students that attend the entire six-week workshop are cast in various works to be presented in a final performance. Rehearsals are held in the evening at the studio and the final performance is performed at one of the many professional theatres in St. Petersburg.
Students can signup for the full 6-week program, or they can choose to attend a 2, 3, 4 or 5-week series of classes. Upon request, Single Class sessons can be scheduled.
Acceptance into the Summer Intensive program is based upon a formal audition that will be held at the Academy of Ballet Art's studio in St. Petersburg, Florida, on Sunday, February 19, 2012. If you are unable to attend the auditions at the studio, you may submit your audition on Video tape. Please contact the ABA Studios for more submission information.
All applicants must fill out a registration form. You must supply a head-shot as well as a full-body shot posed in First Arabesque. A non-refundable audition fee ($25.00) is required with the registration form and photos.
